His house

At Freedom House, we’re committed to following the Lord’s leading, wherever He directs. In this season, we believe God is calling us to take bold steps toward financial freedom so that we can continue to fulfill our mission with strength, passion, and joy. What that looks like could include a new location or other creative possibilities. Our desire is to remain flexible, and full of faith as we walk this journey together.

Our church has received a Letter of Intent for the purchase of our current building and property. The Elders and Leadership Team are having the offer carefully reviewed by both legal counsel and trusted real estate experts. We are also taking time to ensure that, if we were to move forward, Freedom House would be set up well for the future: financially, and missionally.
As previously shared, remaining in our current building long-term would be financially burdensome due to the high cost of operating and maintaining the facility, along with the debt load it carries. This letter of intent presents an opportunity to release that burden and move toward a healthier, more sustainable future for our church family.
Nothing is official yet, but we wanted you to be in the know. It is true that commercial real estate transactions do take time, but we are in a unique situation and all parties are working with urgency in good faith. Should this end up in a mutually agreeable sale, it does position our church with an opportunity to become completely debt free, which is nothing short of a miracle!
At the same time, we’re narrowing in on a few potential locations that are exciting to us as we dream about the next chapter. While we can’t yet share details about the possible buyer or potential locations until things are finalized, we promise to continue communicating openly each step of the way.

Thank you for continuing to walk in faith, hope, and unity as we trust God’s leading together.
With gratitude and anticipation,
Pastor Heather

FAQs

We believe that financial freedom is essential for Freedom House to continue in our mission. The debt and operating costs of our building/property are too large of an amount for us to carry. At this point, we are considering any options that leads us to financial freedom: This COULD include but wouldn’t be limited to selling the property and the building, giving the deed over to WIF (our lender), receiving a $1.5 million gift (buys one more year for more growth and other options to open up, does not include deferred maintenance costs), or other options. We also understand that the Lord answers in ways we could never have imagined. We are open to His Ways. WIF (our lender) is also requiring that we communicate a path forward by the end of this month. While the details are still unfolding, we trust that God is guiding us and that His plan for Freedom House is good.

We recognize and acknowledge the importance of congregational voting as outlined in our by-laws. While this situation is not governed by a congregational vote, we are in this together and we need your voice, prayers, and support in this marking milestone of our journey. In addition, the financial reality at this point in time doesn’t lend itself to a yes/no vote on whether we stay in this building or not. Unless a significant gift is given, we will need to leave this property regardless of the outcome of a vote. Our Board of Elders is prayerfully leading with the best interests of Freedom House in mind and will continue to share updates openly as we take each step together.

No! The steps we are taking are to ensure that the mission of Freedom House will remain strong here in Madison County as part of the Church of God Anderson movement. We deeply believe our best days are ahead of us.

Pastor Heather and the Board of Elders are always open to conversation. You can also submit a question and the bottom of this page and we will try and get back to you as soon as possible.

Yes. Each Freedom House newsletter shares where we are at financially. More detailed reports are also available if you’d like to see them. You can email finance@freedomhouse.church to make your request.

The Learning Center is close to our hearts. Every decision we make keeps the Learning Center and the families it serves in mind. We are committed to clear communication with the staff and families of the FHLC throughout this journey.

PRAY - GIVE - SERVE - SPEAK ● Pray: unity, wisdom, God’s favor ● Give: one-time gifts toward debt relief/transition costs; recurring giving increases stability. ● Serve: jump in now; be ready to join transition teams if needed (portable, move, connections, kids, etc). ● Speak: choose unity, ask questions, avoid speculation.

We’re working toward a decision by the end of October. We also know that God’s timing is perfect and we are following His lead. We are committed to keeping us all together on this journey with timely communication and updates. If you do not currently receive emails from us, be sure to fill out a connect card and we can update your information.

It is unlikely that a physical relocation would happen before the end of this year.
