We are overflowing with JOY as we step into this next chapter together! After months of prayer, discernment, and faithful waiting, we are thrilled to share that Freedom House is moving to the campus of Anderson University! It is a partnership filled with promise, alignment, and hope for the future God is unfolding among us.
Beginning in January, you’ll find us worshiping as FH @ AU at the York Performing Arts Center, with two identical services at 9:00 am & 11:00 am. This beautiful space will become our new Sunday home, a place we will continue to live out the mission God has entrusted to us.
Join us this coming Sunday for Celebration Sunday! 🎉
This will be a meaningful moment to worship together, celebrate what God has done, and look ahead with faith and expectation. Come ready for worship because God is still writing the story that we get to step into together.
As we prepare to launch, we’re also setting aside a sacred moment to pray and dedicate this new season to the Lord. Consecration Sunday will be January 4th at 11:00 am, a short gathering centered on prayer, surrender, and thanksgiving. Then, our official Kickoff Sunday is January 11th, when we officially begin our new rhythm together at FH @ AU.

Last Update on December 15th  

We wanted to share a quick update as we continue walking this transition together. First, we are actively advancing toward securing our next location. Conversations are moving forward, and we are hopeful to have everything finalized very soon. Thank you for praying, trusting, and staying expectant with us. God continues to guide each step. 

Second, our Transition Team has been doing an absolutely incredible job preparing us for this next chapter. They have already accomplished so much behind the scenes, and we’re deeply grateful. People ask me all the time how I’m doing in the middle of this transition. So, how am I? Well, because I know that this is what God has asked of us, I’m all in and at peace. To step out in obedient risk, usually into the unknown, is one of the most common themes in The Bible. Now…do I get frustrated sometimes? Yep. My timeline and God’s don’t always match. :) But discouraged? Not at all. I’ve learned over the years that His timing and His plan always end up better than mine. And, I can already picture our future…full of people, passion, service, sacrifice, and a whole community walking in the way of Jesus. I can’t wait. ♥️

Update from December 5th, 2025 

As we step with OBEDIENT RISK into this next season, we want to make sure everyone has opportunities to stay involved, stay connected, and stay encouraged. God is leading us, and we are moving together…one step, one packed box, and one prayer at a time!
1. Want to help with the move?

2. Stay connected through our new “Moving Buddies” Groups! 
Remember those class field trips where everyone had a buddy so nobody got lost? That’s exactly the heart behind our Moving Buddies groups. We don’t want anyone left behind or overlooked in this transition. If you’re already in a small group, that’s your moving buddy squad. If not, we’d love to connect you with a temporary transition group so you’ve got people to walk with during this season. In other words, we’ve already saved you a seat on the class field trip bus! 3. An encouraging update on our next location
As we shared in our last update, we are continuing our active search for the right long-term home for Freedom House. And, as God so faithfully does, He has connected us this week with another promising possibility! It’s a location that aligns beautifully with what we need, and we are hopeful as conversations continue. We will keep you updated as things unfold. Stay tuned!

Update from November 26, 2025 

An Update on the Scatterfield (Steeple) Property:
Over the last week, we completed several key inspections at the location on Scatterfield, the “steeple building,” we were exploring as a possible temporary home. Unfortunately, the inspections revealed significant issues within the building that will prohibit us from safely using the facility.
Are we disappointed? Yes.
Are we discouraged? Not at all.
We are deeply grateful that the Lord brought these issues to light now, rather than after we moved in. God’s care is evident even in closed doors. Ever heard the country song, Thank God for Unanswered Prayers? If ever you needed proof God loves Country Music…there you have it! ;) 
What does this mean?
Our timeline remains the same, and we will continue moving forward with faith. We are actively pursuing a new and next location and will keep you closely informed as those details unfold. God is leading, and we will follow.

Thank you, Freedom House, for being a church marked by unity, flexibility, and an UNWAVERING MISSION. Stay tuned…there is more good to come!

Update from November 21, 2025 

Learning Center Update
As some of you might already know, our state-licensed Learning Center cannot relocate with us due to state building requirements for a childcare facility that our new site (and every other viable location) cannot meet. This has been one of the most tender parts of our transition.
The FHLC’s final day of operation will be Friday, December 19th.
We love these families and children deeply, and our staff has poured their hearts into them. We’re committed to helping each family find a safe, nurturing new placement, and we are walking closely with our amazing LC staff as they explore what’s next. Please continue to pray for them and show extra love during these weeks.

Transition Team
We’ve formed a Transition Team to help lead the way as we move into our new home. This team will oversee logistics, setup, and all the details that will make the new space feel like “us.”
We know many of you are excited to jump in and help make this space our own and we can’t wait for that! Stay tuned for ways you can sign up to be part of these teams in the coming weeks. It’s going to be a beautiful, all-hands-on-deck season of creativity, teamwork, and joy.

Each of these moments holds so much promise. God is leading us step by step.
Thank you for praying with us, trusting God with us, and walking this road with such faith and grace. We feel your support, and it means more than you know.

Update from November 13, 2025 

Thank you for continuing to walk this journey with faith, prayer, and open hearts. I want to share an important update with you as we move forward together.
After ongoing conversations with our lender and their requirement that we make a decision by the end of October, we sent a counteroffer last week to the buyer who submitted an Intent to Purchase to us, as mentioned in the last update. We have been diligent and prayerful in every step of this process, seeking God’s wisdom and also honoring the responsibilities we carry before our lender. We are now waiting to see if that counter is accepted, signed, and completed. If it is, that will mean our current property and building will be sold, and Freedom House will relocate.
Over the last several weeks, our leadership team has met and prayed together consistently and earnestly. We have visited multiple potential locations, listened, discerned, and held each decision before the Lord. We are now in promising conversations with the owner of a site that we believe could be a good fit for our church family. It may serve as a temporary home or, if the Lord opens the door, possibly a longer-term location. Once everything becomes official, we will be able to share the name of the buyer as well as details about the potential new location.
I know this season has held many emotions for many people: hope, grief, excitement, uncertainty. Thank you for staying prayerful and trusting the Lord alongside us. I also want you to hear clearly what taking this step will mean for our church:
• We will be completely debt free!
• We will move into a healthy, sustainable financial future!
• We will have margin in our budget for new opportunities in ministry and mission!
For those who received the voting packet this weekend, you saw that the proposed 2026 budget is truly an answer to years, if not decades, of prayer. This represents a new chapter of strength and freedom for Freedom House!
If you have questions, we welcome them. You can talk with our team at the Voting Packet table this coming weekend and next, or join us for our Annual Business Meeting after church on November 16 where we will share updates, answer questions, and continue this conversation openly.
As a leadership team, we are genuinely excited! God has been faithful in every step. The building we’ve been in has been a beautiful tool He used to reach countless people for Jesus. And now, He seems to be inviting us into a new vessel, one He intends to use to transform lives, draw people to Himself, and expand the ministry of Freedom House.

Update from November 5, 2025 

Our church has received a Letter of Intent for the purchase of our current building and property. The Elders and Leadership Team are having the offer carefully reviewed by both legal counsel and trusted real estate experts. We are also taking time to ensure that, if we were to move forward, Freedom House would be set up well for the future: financially, and missionally.
As previously shared, remaining in our current building long-term would be financially burdensome due to the high cost of operating and maintaining the facility, along with the debt load it carries. This letter of intent presents an opportunity to release that burden and move toward a healthier, more sustainable future for our church family.
Nothing is official yet, but we wanted you to be in the know. It is true that commercial real estate transactions do take time, but we are in a unique situation and all parties are working with urgency in good faith. Should this end up in a mutually agreeable sale, it does position our church with an opportunity to become completely debt free, which is nothing short of a miracle! 
At the same time, we’re narrowing in on a few potential locations that are exciting to us as we dream about the next chapter. While we can’t yet share details about the possible buyer or potential locations until things are finalized, we promise to continue communicating openly each step of the way.
