We have a seat for everybody to grow

Faith is a journey! That means that everybody has a next step to take that will help them grow and become more like Jesus. FHU is a place designed for you to come, sit at a table with others that are excited to grow, and engage in interactive learning experiences. Each set of class sessions will have options for you to explore so make sure to stop by regularly to sign up for your next class! Classes start September 14th 9am

FAQ's

Great question! We are working on building childcare for crib-3rd grade for that time with an amazing team of people willing to forgo a class for a round and make it so you can attend a class. If you have a Preteen (4th/5th), Middle School (6th-8th), or High School (9th-12th) students, we will have age-appropriate lessons for them that follow the same format as the adults to help get them in the habit of growing their faith as well. We would love to encourage the High School students to check out the student OR adult class as the adult classes are available to them as well.

If you want to use a round of classes to give your time and energy, we are looking for people willing to forgo a class occasionally and help facilitate our childcare. We want parents/guardians to be able to attend but that means we will need a fleet of people willing to sacrifice a class here and there so they can attend. We would also love to have some people who are willing to come early, come and make coffee so that when we arrive, we are greeted with the smell and glory of coffee. If either of these opportunities sound like something you would be interested in, email kbranderhorst@freedomhouse.church (or just hit reply to this email) and we will plug you in!

We are currently training and equipping a group of people who have experience leading or facilitating a classroom. This team will go through some specific training to make sure we are able to provide experiential learning moments across all the classes. Trust us, this team is an amazing group of individuals who work diligently to honor God’s Word well. When they are not teaching, they will be joining in on classes as well!

Good news! Our goal is to make each class a place where you get to learn, practice a discipleship skill, and process the experience. This is not a lecture format but rather a chance for you and the others at your table to try out different spiritual disciplines and learning experiences. For example, one of the classes that will be offered is “How to Read your Bible” and in this class, you will get a chance to practice the skills and get involved in the process, not just listen. If you are a person who can get antsy when sitting, just let your teacher or facilitator know and we can provide fidgets or you can stand and stretch occasionally, just try not to get in someone else’s way in the process. We get it, sometimes we just can’t sit any longer!

Our goal is that no matter where you serve during the main service, you will have a chance to attend. That does mean some of our call times and preparations have to be done somewhat differently. Over the next few weeks, your ministry leader will be sharing how this directly impacts you and your serving. We want this to be a place the WHOLE church can come together to learn, side by side, so be sure to join us and thank you for continuing to serve with us!

Short answer, YES! If you have a Bible, bring it. If you do not have one, we have some in each class. Better yet, if you need one, we can help. Each class will use scripture and we would love for you to see it and read it, don’t worry you will be taught how to use the Bible as we use it.
